Based on my research and personal experience, here are some essential tips for visiting Nusa Penida East:

1. Plan your Itinerary/Tour: The island has much to offer, so it’s crucial to have a clear plan. That is why I strongly recommend using a tour, they take the planning, logistics and hassle out of the trip for you!
2. Safety First: The roads in Nusa Penida can be extremely bumpy, even and downright treacherous. I DO NOT recommend using a motorbike and trying to do it yourself. The roads are pretty bad – use a tour, they are local, know the roads, and the rules and will stick to a great schedule. Safety is their priority.
3. Dress Appropriately: Wear flip-flops and clothes you don’t mind getting wet, when on the snorkelling tour. The boat rides can sometimes be a splashy affair! For the rest of the trip, wear lightweight, quick-drying comfortable clothes, it’s scorching and extremely humid.
4. Choose the Right Season: The best time to visit is during the dry season (April to October), when the weather is warm and sunny, and the sea is calm.
5. Pack Smart: Use a waterproof backpack to protect your belongings during boat rides.
6. Explore with a Guide: Using a guide or joining a tour allows them to arrange everything for you, from boat rides to transport, making your trip hassle-free and more enjoyable.
