“My guide was Arta and I had a fantastic experience. Not only did I learn about the Ubud highlights and culture but I also appreciated the more “current” cultural comments in particular. I feel like I learned some good life perspectives and gained some wisdom. On a lighter note, I really enjoyed all the photos he took! This guy could handle my phone camera better than I could lol. He was also funny and in good spirits. Ubud was amazing and beautiful. Thank you so much! Experience of a lifetime.”

“An early wake-up but definitely worth it. About a 60-90min drive from Ubud, and then about 2hrs of hiking with plenty of short breaks. If you’re a frequent walker/hiker, the climb is not too bad. A nice simple breakfast at the top and then spectacular views when the sun comes up. Plenty of viewpoints across the lake, the crater, and some volcanic steam vents. We had a crystal clear day so got very lucky there. Overall very well organised and would definitely recommend.”

“We were recommended this tour by a friend and booked with Ariasta for the day tour of Ubud and had the BEST time. We could not be happier with our experience. He was extremely accommodating and made sure everyone was feeling comfortable and having a good time. He drove us around to all of the main spots throughout the day including Monkey Forest, Temples, Waterfall hike and swim, and Rice fields and ended the day at Cretya Day Club for a swim and relaxation. We could not have done what we did without him and he was extremely kind and generous to spend the day with. We were not rushed at all and he always told us to take our time when visiting places. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is looking to see Ubud or requires a driver in Bali. 10/10 experience!”
Whether you’re a thrill-seeker, a spiritual wanderer, or simply searching for relaxation, there’s something for everyone in this extraordinary destination. So let’s jump straight into the Best things to do in Ubud Bali List!
1. Indulge in a Luxurious Jungle Villa Escape
One of the best ways to experience Ubud is by residing in a luxurious jungle villa. The experience of waking up to breathtaking sights and sounds of the lush surroundings is incomparable to anywhere else in the world! Here you can truly immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Bali.
My Top Picks for Jungle Forest Accommodation in Ubud BALI:
TRAVELIST TIP: I highly recommend not staying directly in Ubud city centre, it’s loud, and a bit chaotic so staying a little bit out of town is the best for a relaxing vacay with most hotels having shuttles to take you to town anyway
TRAVELIST TIP: Most of these resorts and villa escapes will offer far more than simply a beautiful view. You’ll be able to also have access to instaworthy and supreme Bali luxuries like floating breakfasts and spa treatments including mesmerizing flowers baths >> More about these amazing activities in Point #6 and #7

2. Bask in the Serenity of the Campuhan Ridge Walk
Second, on my Ubud things to do list is the highly underrated: The Campuhan Ridge Walk, a stunning route filled with lush greenery and panoramic views.

Start your walk from the Gunung Lebah Temple and it should take you around 2 kilometres or so, the first 1 kilometre is simply nature and the 2nd kilometre is strolling amongst some lovely cafes along with sweeping views of the lush rice paddies, it’s not very hilly either, but be wary of the time you visit as it’s not very shady.
TRAVELIST TIP: When to visit ~ For the best experience, start your walk early in the morning or just before sunset to avoid the scorching midday sun.

3. Tegalalang Rice Terraces: A Visual Feast of Green
One of Bali’s most famous landscapes (and one of my fav places to visit in Ubud Bali), the Tegalalang Rice Terraces offer an incredible opportunity for photography, relaxation, and cultural immersion.
TRAVELIST TIP: Respect ~ These Ubud attractions might be a simple slice of your trip, but remember to be respectful of the local farmers and their hard work, don’t stray from the paths or pull out, or damage the rice plants. Also always consider supporting the community by shopping or eating in the nearby area.

Entrance fees are around IDR 10 000, and there is no time limit on how long to spend there. I could literally wander around for hours. Again this is a place which lacks shade, so bring, sunscreen, water and a hat if you’re there during peak midday hours.
TRAVELIST TIP: Instaworthy photos ~ The ultimate spot for stunning sunrise photos, Venture to the back of Tegalalang’s fields where a local farmer awaits. For a fee of IDR 50 000, he’ll open his gate, giving you exclusive access to walk through the lush rice terraces and snap that unforgettable shot. Don’t miss out on this insider tip!

4. Find Your Zen with Yoga

9. Immerse Yourself in the Sacred Space of Temples
Ubud is home to numerous temples, so this is a must do in Ubud, each with its own unique beauty and spiritual significance. Some must-see Ubud temples include Pura Taman Saraswati, Pura Gunung Kawi, Elephant Cave Goa Gajah and Pura Tirta Empul.
Pura Tirta Empul: Tirta Empul is an iconic Balinese temple renowned for its sacred springs and purifying baths, which is open for the public to bathe in. Locals and tourists alike flock to this enchanting site to soak in the sacred water, in hopes that God will grant their wishes. Immerse yourself in this unique and refreshing experience.
Ubud Tour With Tirta Empul Holy Water Temple

5 STAR RATED | “We had an amazing tour around Ubud with our host Tude. He was punctual in picking us up, and we headed onto a journey of multiple stops. Throughout the trip, Tude took the time to explain the significance of the places, walk us through the water purification process at the temple, and describe the history of many of the landmarks. We enjoyed all the stops on the tour, learned a lot about Balinese culture, and everything was so easy with our tour guide. 100% would highly recommend”
Pura Taman Saraswati: Dedicated to the Hindu goddess of learning, wisdom, music, and art. Adorned with intricate carvings, this stunning temple features serene water gardens and lotus ponds leading up to its elegant structure (Also EXTREMELY INSTAWORTHY!). He explained the cultural and historical significance of all of the sights in Ubud. He also took the time to be our personal photographer, making sure we got a perfect shot/video at every destination. Wayan made sure the car was nice and cold every time we came back from a stop. He also packed ice cold water and cold towels which felt so great after hiking the hot humid jungle to temples and waterfalls. I can’t say enough wonderful things about our days with Wayan. We will be back and will request him again!”
Goa Gajah: Adorned with stunning carvings of mythical creatures, is a must-see attraction for history buffs and adventurers alike. Immerse yourself in the holiest Hindu site and uncover the mystery of its origins— was it really hand-dug by Hindu priests for use as a hermitage?

5 STAR RATED | 716+ Reviews “Such an exciting tour! Our guide Agung was friendly and helpful, and a great photographer to boot! We visited the coffee plantation, the sacred monkey forest, Tirta Empul, Goa Gajah, the rice fields and Tegenungan waterfall all in one day, plus an extra stop for lunch at a delicious restaurant with a variety of both local Balinese and Western cuisine to try. Very happily tired afterwards”
Pura Gunung Kawi: This stunning collection of candi also known as Valley of the Kings, is nestled in a river valley surrounded by rice fields and jungle, making it a must-visit day trip destination. Showcasing ten beautifully carved temple fronts, the candi was designed to house the souls of ancient kings and are chiselled into the valley walls on both sides of the Pekerisan River.
10. Enjoy Unforgettable Views of Ubud’s Waterfalls
Best of Bali Waterfalls: Tibumana, Tukad Cepung and Tegenungan

5 STAR RATED | 1 317 Reviews “The waterfalls were truly beautiful, and definitely the highlight of my trip. The real thing was more beautiful than the pictures. My tour guide was Dewa and he was absolutely fantastic, he took time to explain various facts to me, went at my speed, and spent the whole day taking amazing pictures of me (I was travelling solo)”
Tegenungan Waterfall
Tegenungan Waterfall is located just a short drive from the town centre and it’s possibly the most popular waterfall in the area, so go early aka first thing to escape the crowds.

It’s located in a small gorge, so there is a decent descent of stairs to get down and an equal journey back up. There are also plenty of photo spots and platforms for some instaworthy and somewhat cheesy snaps
Kanto Lampo Waterfall
Kanto Lampo Waterfall is located just a short walk from Tegenungan Waterfall. The waterfall is less crowded than Tegenungan and there are a number of small pools where you can take a dip. Be sure to wear proper footwear as the path to the waterfall can be slippery.

Tibumana Waterfall
Tibumana Waterfall is located about an hour’s drive from Ubud town centre and is one of the more secluded waterfalls in the area. The waterfall is surrounded by lush jungle and there’s a small pool at the base where you can swim.

11. Hidden Canyon Lemukih
Once a secret gem that is now a must-see for visitors. Locals consider it sacred and with good reason. The breathtaking rock formations amidst the stunning natural surroundings make it a can’t-miss destination for nature lovers and adrenaline junkies.

This is a proper trek, be prepared to scale some rockfaces and wade through waist-high water. It’s definitely a good idea to hire one of the local guides to get through this one. Its a must-do Ubud activity, Get ready to dive right in – quite literally!

As you paddle along, be amazed by the native flora and fauna you encounter along the way, including hidden waterfalls and refreshing swimming spots. Definitely, something outdoorsy to add to your Bali Ubud things to-do list.
TRAVELIST TIP: The rapids themselves are Class 2 to 3, therefore surprisingly gentle. Just be aware that there are a decent few stairs to climb to get to the activity and then consequently stairs to climb back up. Definitely worth pairing this with the quad biking adventure too for a super-packed afternoon!
And when you work up an appetite, stop off for a delicious lunch at a local restaurant with breathtaking views of the surrounding jungle. If you’re looking for fun, exhilaration, and unforgettable memories, white water rafting in Bali is an absolute must-do on your list of things to do in Ubud!
14. Explore Ubud’s Art and Crafts Market
Attention shopping enthusiasts and avid photographers! The Ubud Art Market is in the heart of Ubud town and highly ranked in the things to see in Ubud list!

This artistic region of Bali offers hand-crafted goods that are locally made. From silk scarves to woven rattan bags, paintings, home decor to kitchenware, you can find it all here.
TRAVELIST TIP: Many blogs I’ve read especially about South East Asia encourage bargaining and haggling on prices. While I don’t dispute bargaining by any means, I do believe in paying what’s fair and not always trying to get the absolute dirt lowest cost price on things. You need to understand that these people literally rely on your income for their livelihood so pay what’s fair and pay it forward.
And for those who love street-style photography, the market is a perfect backdrop to capture street photography portraits with depth and character. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to bring home souvenirs that are typically Balinese and unavailable elsewhere.

Open daily from 8:00am – 5:00pm, make sure to arrive early to avoid crowds and snag the best deals. Plus, you might recognize the market from the film Eat, Pray, Love starring Julia Roberts.
TRAVELIST TIP: From 5:00 am to 8:00 the market is mainly for food (fruit, veg , meat etc.) and then changes to an art market from 8:00 am.
15. Ubud Rice Fields Walk
Discover a hidden gem in Ubud – take a relaxing stroll through the stunning rice fields. Only a 45-minute walk, this path is often overlooked despite being situated in the town centre. >> Here’s The route on Google Maps

Enjoy a flat walk through the fields, taking in the picturesque views. There are plenty of cafes to stop at along the way, such as Cafe Pomegranate, Dragonfly Cafe and Joglo Organik. For any yoga enthusiasts, the Ubud Yoga House is located just off this path.
Alternatively, start at the far end of Jalan Kajeng and loop around to the other rice field path, although beware – motorbikes do drive along these narrow routes.
16. Mount Batur Sunrise Hike
Are you up for a challenge? The climb up Mount Batur is slightly tough for some, but totally worth it.
Wake up at 2 am, drive a few hours, and trek up a massive mountain in the dark. Trust me, the pain is worth the magnificent view. Although Mount Batur is a bit north of Ubud, most people start their trek from Ubud for easy pick-up arrangements.

The trek starts at approximately 2 am to reach the summit by sunrise. It took about an hour and a half to reach the top, but the feeling of accomplishment is unbeatable. You’ll bond with your team, and get to say you conquered an active volcano.
